QUALIFICATIONS FOR ADMISSION 
Program is open to:  
Q 14 –20 year old young men and women
Q (13 year olds may apply for waiver)
Prospective Candidates should have one of the following:
Q Strong interest in Military, Civilian Aviation or Military Spec Ops Career Fields.
Q Desire to enter into one of the Military Service Academies.
Q Desire to enter a College ROTC Program. 
Prospective Candidates other requirements:
Q Possess good or above average academic grades.
Q Recruit Officer Candidate must be of good moral character. 
Q Individuals must visit the unit and talk with the Recruiting Officer.
Q Individuals must attend a Unit Orientation with at least one (preferably both) parent(s)
      or guardian. 
Q Fill out all appropriate paperwork, and schedule an Interview.
Q Pass a rigorous screening process very similar to the process used by the American Military
      Service Academies (including two board interviews by Officers of the Squadron).
Q Complete a background check, and be accepted into 17-Week Officer Candidate School.
Q Report for duty on Induction Day for in-processing.

UNIT ORIENTATION BRIEFING

 Attending a Unit Orientation is a mandatory requirement for those who may be interested in joining one of our units. At the Unit Orientation, you will: 
w
Q      Meet some of the Cadet Staff and hear about their experiences. 
Q      Learn about our courses and curriculum.
Q      Learn how we prepare you for a possible career in Air Force or Military Aviation, Special Forces,
      Intelligence, or other Military Positions.
Q      Learn how to prepare for and get accepted into the Service Academies / ROTC Units.
Q      Listen to a presentation from some of our current Air Force Explorer Cadets and Cadet
      Leadership about the program.
Q      Meet the parents of the current Air Force Cadets to see how this program has helped their
      teenager prepare for leadership roles in future endeavors.

 wAfter the Orientation meeting, if there is further interest:
Q      You can pick-up required forms, and reserve an appointment at the next Interview Board. 
Q      We follow the same acceptance process as the Military Service Academies.
Q      If accepted, you will be assigned to one of the next two Officer Training Flights.
Q      These 17-Week Officer Candidate Schools initiate training only twice per year
 (January & September).

To reserve a seat at our next Unit Orientation, it is MANDATORY that we receive a "RSVP."  Call 480-970-8485 or E-mail us at info@usafexplorers.org.

Since our Unit Orientations are on a Military Installation, WE MUST PROVIDE YOU CLEARANCE IN ADVANCE TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE BASE.

"SECURITY FORCES WILL NOT LET YOU ON THE INSTALLATION IF YOU JUST SHOW UP!"

INTERVIEW PROCESS
Q     For each two Unit Orientation Briefings, there is scheduled one 1-day Board Interviews.
Q     Each Squadron will notify the prospective candidate of the location and confirm time the interview
     will start.
Q     These Boards meet within 4 days - 2 weeks after attending the Unit Orientation Briefing.
Q     When forms are picked up at the Orientation Briefing, you will be able to pick a first-come, first-
      serve board interview date and time.
Q Similar to the interview process to the US Military Academies, during the Board Interview, the
      prospective candidate will meet with two separate Squadron Boards.
Q     The Board will conduct an intensive interview with the prospective cadet, to determine if the
      applicant will be a good prospective or future U.S. Air Force Explorer or Military Officer.
Q     Candidates should consider the Board Interviews similar to a Job Interview. 
Q     Prospective Officer Candidates will be informed of the results by the unit commander the following
     Monday evening NLT 2100hrs (9PM).
